Research Article
Before working in communications and public affairs, I was a research assistant in HIV and later in oncology. I developed strong relationships with physicians, scientists, and fellow research staff, and I learned about the research process as well as medical terminology. I firmly believe this gives me an edge in writing accurate content about research.
This article is one example of my expertise in writing about research. I was given the assignment to cover Vinfen's participation in a large, smoking cessation study involving health education. I first made sure to examine the study's abstract and literature to ensure I carefully crafted an article that properly represented the study. When my manager and coworkers wanted to edit certain parts, I was able to successfully explain why those changes would inaccurately state the study's control and experimental groups.
Before the article was published, I had our Director of Strategic Initiatives, who was involved with the study, review the content. She told my manager that she was very impressed at how accurately I presented the study in the article.
