Family Event Invite
I see problems as challenges to solve. Last year, the speaker of our Vinfen family event only sent two photos. One was color and one was black and white. I preferred the larger, black and white photo since he was with his son, compared to being alone in the small, color photo. The event focused on families with loved ones with disabilities, and I thought it was important to showcase his son who has a mental illness.

The problem was the event committee was dead set on having the color photo. They wanted a colorful save the date and invite. They did not think a black and white photo would work.
Instead, I took inspiration from ads that used black and white photos and used colorful, vibrant typography. In the end, I was able to convince the committee that a black and white photo could still be eye-catching for the event’s save the date and invite.

![]() Save the Date Draft 1I tested a lot of colors with the black and white photo. |
![]() Save the Date Draft 2I wanted a lot of versions to give the committee so they felt they had a lot of choices despite not having a color photo of the speaker - something they wanted. |
![]() Final Save the DateThe committee liked the warm orange colors. They were impressed that it looked colorful despite the photo was black and white. |
![]() Program Book Booklet OrderI used the same colors and typefaces in the invite and other materials like the program book. |
